Smokeless Cigarettes – How Much can you save?
As cigarette prices rise and everyone feels the crunch of recession, it's no wonder so many smokers are turning to smokeless cigarettes. An economical choice for many reasons, electronic cigarettes have been under attack in some media outlets - attacks that might have something to do with the fact that Big Tobacco feels threatened by the advent of this remarkable new technology.
There are a number of spurious claims floating around, but experts who are not beholden to the billion-dollar cancer stick industry agree that the risk posed by trace amounts of chemicals in electronic cigarette vapors is no greater, and is probably much less, than that of eating many FDA-approved foods. Though these foods contain the exact same chemicals, no one seems very alarmed about them.
Hysterical claims about this new technology have nothing to do with the public good and everything to do with money. Big Tobacco wants smokers to keep giving it to them instead of spending far less of it on smokeless cigarettes.
An economical choice, yes, but smokeless cigarettes are also revolutionary in the alternative they present. Patches and gums (also more expensive than smokeless cigarettes) deliver nicotine in ways that don't recreate the habitual actions associated with smoking. People who use these cessation aids often miss the routines of smoking more than the nicotine. Smokeless cigarettes, which visually resemble tobacco cigarettes, deliver nicotine through an inoffensive vapor that is inhaled just like smoke - but without secondhand repercussions or the mess and stench of tobacco cigarettes. This makes smokeless cigarettes an economical choice as well as a psychologically sound and socially acceptable one.
But the money saved is considerable. The smokeless cigarette device itself is powered by a lithium battery. Quick release cartridges deliver the nicotine. One cartridge contains about as much nicotine as an entire pack of cigarettes, but the cartridges are a lot cheaper - and, of course, are not subject to the ever-rising taxes the government is imposing on tobacco cigarettes. Heavy smokers can save hundreds of dollars a year using smokeless cigarettes. And the savings could be even greater if you consider the health problems posed by tobacco. Smokeless cigarettes contain none of the twenty-five disease-causing chemicals that are in tobacco.
It's up to you. If you choose to stick with Big Tobacco, the decision will be costly. But we urge you to make a different choice.
